As many of you will know, I have significantly reduced the time I spend involved in Majestic. I think I will remain involved as things stand at the moment, but it is time to start something new.

1/4 of the world’s population is without power. That may surprise a load of people. It surprised me. According to the Platts UDI Database, there were 62,500 power plants in the world in 2012. I’ll guess that’s north of 70,000 now. So if we want to use ttradional power plants to reach the last 25% then we’d be buulding another 20,000 or so.

But technology advances may not mean that this is necessary. When I was well into my maried years, my TV had a Cathode Ray Tube. Now it is little more than a tablet. My lights were all 100 to 150 amps… now most are 15 Amp and the LED lights are a fraction of that. We do not need so much power. In fact – apart from heating – most of us could live quite ably from our mobile phones if they didn’t go flat.

So – really – when it comes to giving the last 25% power, all we need is to give them a way to charge their phones. That gives them:

Light. Tecommunications. Camera. Diary. Professional resources. Education. Entertainment.

How hard can it be?

In 2019 I think I’d like to give that problem some thought. Perhaps some of you might join me
